Soul Shelf | Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
I read this about five years ago. I had seen the movie first and it never truly resonated, but reading the book during my yoga teacher training was completely different. It opened my mind to a new way of living and exploring. It made the idea of travelling through both the outer world and the inner world feel possible and exciting.
Eat Pray Love became its own cultural moment, but at its heart it is a simple story of a woman choosing a more colourful and honest life. That inspired me. It reminded me that you can build a life that feels expansive, curious, soulful and entirely your own.
It is a lovely book to start with because it reads like a story while quietly offering spiritual lessons.
Sharing a few of the pages I annotated and the moments that stayed with me.
